EUGENE A. SMITH
Eugene A. Smith, 88 of Alpena, died peacefully at home on July 29, 2019. He went to heaven to join his beloved wife of 66 years Donna who preceded him in death in January 2019.
Gene was born May 29, 1931 in Wilson Township from the union of his late parents Willard (Bid) and Joy (Misner).
He leaves behind three children, Dan (Patty) of Gladwin, Cindy (William) of Ida and Jeff (Tracy Burr) of Goodrich; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Becky), Christopher (Melissa) and Theresa Smith (Christopher Huey — fiance); six great-grandchildren and one sister, Ardath Snitgen of Crystal Lake.
Having owned and operated Northern Welding and through his many years of volunteer work with the Shriners, he was very well known and respected in the community.
Gene was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, wood carving and loved spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a joint celebration of life for Gene and Donna on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019 at McWilliams Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m.
