JERRY RICHARD McBRIDE

Jerry was born December 22, 1936 in Union City, Tenn., the son of Beatrice (Holly) and Ilar McBride. They then moved to Plymouth, Mich., where he grew up and attended Plymouth High School. Jerry served four years in the United States Air Force. He made his home in Belleville, Ill., until 1968 when he moved to Ann Arbor. He met and married Sheryl on June 20, 1970. Jerry received his Associate Degree from Washtenaw Community College. He later retired from Bechtel Power Corporation after 20 years as a supervisor of Quality Engineering. Later in 1993, he joined the Ann Arbor News maintenance department working part time for eight years and really enjoyed the work. He always liked working with his hands. In the spring of 2002, he and Sheryl moved to his beloved northern Michigan chalet near Alpena. Jerry enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, watching the wildlife and hunting. Jerry was also a board member with the Allband Co-op since 2007.

Surviviors include his wife, Sheryl; sisters-in-law, Elaine McBride, Patsy (Tom) Helzerman; and many nephews, nieces, adopted children and cousins. Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia (Ralph) Silva and brother, James McBride.

Visitation will take place on Thursday at Bannan Funeral Home from 3-8 p.m. and continue Sunday at Muehlig Chapel in Ann Arbor from 2-6 p.m. and where the funeral service will take place on Monday.

Interment: Washtenong Memorial Park
