RICHARD JAMES KING

Richard James King Sr., 91, of Alpena entered eternal peace on Sat. April 13, 2019. He was a very loving father and devoted man of faith that will be deeply missed by all. Dick was born on July 26, 1927 to the late Clarence and Valere (Creguer) King in Highland Park, Mich. Dick served in the United States Army during World War II. Shortly after his completion of duty he went on to be a firefighter for the City of Detroit Fire Department where he retired after 20 years.

Dick was a member of the Ossineke Knights of Columbus, volunteer fire chief of the Alcona Fire Department, faithful parishioner of St. Catherine of Alexandria and St. Gabriel Catholic Churches, and an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He enjoyed playing golf, trips to the casino, and attending daily mass, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his six children, Valere (Joseph) LaBell, Mark (Vicki) King, LeeAnn (Kim) Bushey, Rick (Theresa) King, Scott (Diane) King, and Roseann (Ron) Bellenir, 19 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Rose (Romeo) in 1994; three sisters; a son, Joseph King, and his wife Jean (Beland).

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Ossineke from 9 a.m. until the time of the Memorial service at 11 a.m. with Father Bob Bissot officiating. Military honors accorded by the U.S. Army will be at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at St. Catherine Cemetery on May 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be registered at www.mcwilliamsfh.com.
