BERTHA HELEN CARRIVEAU

Bertha Helen Carriveau, 96, of Alpena passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Medilodge of Greenview.

Bertha Helen Wilke was born in Hubbard Lake on July 10, 1922 to the late Robert and Julianna (Schultz) Wilke and married Burton Carriveau on June 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1991. On Jan. 1, 1994 she married Clarence Greer, he also preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1996. She owned and operated the Sip and Nip Drive-in (55-57), 40 Winks Motel (64-71) and Woman’s World (73-76). She enjoyed playing cards at Alpena Senior Citizens, sewing, crocheting, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Surviving are two children, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Carriveau, Sherry (Dennis) McDonald; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, including Florence Gross; and her “family” at Pam Morrison’s AFC Home.

Mrs. Carriveau was preceded in death by a son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Helen Carriveau; siblings, Fredrick Wilke, Adolph Wilke, Lena Timm, Elsie Coats, Ewald Wilke, Martha Degen, Alma Thiem, Herman Wilke, Ida Knecktel and Reinhold Wilke.

Visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.

Interment: St. Catherine Cemetery
