ROSA MARIE MORRISON

Rosa Marie Morrison, 79, of Hillman, entered eternal peace on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019 at MediLodge of Hillman. Rosa was born on Jan. 17, 1940 to the late Leroy and Lena (L’Heureux) Mayville in Grosse Isle, Mich. Later in life Rosa developed the desire and compassion to volunteer at St. Bernard Catholic Church. She worked as a secretary in the rectory for many years and it was then that she decided to go to college where she obtained a degree from Madonna University. She then started as a Catechetical teacher for the special needs. Rosa was also the owner of Alpena Screen Arts and Embroidery for many years before selling the business. She volunteered as a “Candy Striper” at Alpena General Hospital. She enjoyed many things that life had to offer including painting, needlework, feeding the ducks on Sportsman’s Island, and spending time with her family. Rosa found her greatest joy and tranquility in the breathtaking view from the Alpena boat harbor where she gathered her thoughts and meditated in peace.

Rosa is survived by her three children, Charles (Helen) Reed Morrison III of Cannon City, Colo., James (Monica) Morrison of Alpena, Mich., and Elizabeth Morrison of Escanaba, Mich., six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a sister Maxine Markey of Alpena, Mich., and sister-in-law Joyce Mayville. She was preceded in death by a daughter Ann Morrison, and three brothers, Clarence “Hank”, David, and James Mayville.

Rosa has been taken for cremation from McWilliams Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 at Holy Cross Cemetery with Seminarian Mary Hughes officiating.
