LYNNE MICHELLE BEVER

Linwood, Mich.

Lynne Michelle (Zessin) Bever, age 60, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 in Alpena. She was born on Aug. 4, 1958 in Redford, Mich. Lynne was a graduate of Mercy High School in Farmington Hills. She attended Michigan State University and graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy. She was married for 26 years to her beloved husband Gregory J. Bever, D.D.S. until his passing in 2007. Lynne was a registered nurse and had worked for many years as a pharmaceutical sales representative until her retirement just three weeks ago. Since childhood Lynne has always led an active and full life, especially in sports. She was a multi-sport athlete in high school and was on the volleyball team at Michigan State University. After college, she continued to play volleyball and softball in recreational leagues. At age 40, she got tired of watching her children from the stands and took up ice hockey. She played on many women’s hockey teams in the Great Lakes Bay region including the Midland Icebreakers.

Lynne had been a member of the Bay City Rowing Club and spent time rucking with Hyland’s Hopeless. She was an avid traveler. Cherished trips included using her nursing skills in mission work with her church and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Most importantly, Lynne cherished her time with her children, family, friends, and, of course, her dog Sadie Mae. Lynne’s giving spirit was evident to all; her final act of generosity was to give the gift of organ and tissue donation.

Lynne is survived by her three children, Dr. Gregory (Claire) Bever, Jr., Alyson (SPC. David) La’Cour, and Dr. Ian Bever and Ian’s girlfriend Haley Bickham; her mother, Rosemary Zessin; four siblings, Kathy (Steve) Gaiefsky, Dave (Jan) Zessin, Lynne’s twin Laurie (Mike) Whalen and John (Susan) Zessin; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane (Tom) Carmichael, Dr. Keith (Cathy) Bever, Bruce (Terri) Bever and Michael (Kathryn) Bever; Lynne’s dear friend and companion, Dr. Mark Sharp; and several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband Greg, Lynne was also preceded in death by her father, Walter Zessin.
