ROBERT W. THOMPSON

Born on April 5, 1931 in Alpena to the late Fred and Josephine (Kotwicki) Thompson. As a young boy, Bob was always looking for an opportunity to advance himself and later enlisted in the United States Air Force retiring as a Major in 1971. Following his retirement Bob worked at Alpena General Hospital, as a real estate agent and later sold cars. He was a vigorous reader and an extremely political activist for the Republican party. He was a true patriot and was a member of the VFW Alpena Post 2496, longtime volunteer for hospice and a friend of Bill W.

Surviving are his children, Maria (fiance John Shelton) Parent, Robert (Debra) Thompson, II; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Kourtni) Charbonneau, Stefani (Rick) Daley, Evan (fiancee Megan Dumas) Charbonneau; five great-grandchildren, Ricky, Emma, Eve, Esther and Malakai.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by an infant son, William; brother William Thompson and a sister, Judy Thompson.

Visitation will take place Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at the Bannan Funeral Home from noon until time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating. Full military honors will be accorded him by the VFW Alpena Post 2496.

Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or Hospice.
