CLIFFORD BARNES

Clifford E. “Bud” Barnes, age 88, of Lachine, formerly of White lake, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018, at home, surrounded by his family.

On Jan. 12, 1930, Clifford was born to the late Clifford A. and Virginia (Stoddard) Barnes in Detroit, Mich. Bud served in the U.S. Army as a medic from 1951 through 1953. On April 18, 1964, he married Lucy Lowery in Waterford, Mich. Bud was a Master Carpenter for 63 years. Bud was a member of the Michigan Good Sam’s Camping Club for 20 years. He was an avid camper and deer hunter.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lucy, and their four children: Gayle Clawson of Arkansas; Bonnie (Jerry) Carpenter of Walled Lake, Mich.; David (Debra) Barnes of Waterford, Mich.; and Joe (Sherrie) Wampler of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; seven grandchildren: Jim, Stacey, Michael, Shane, Justin, Ami, and Shayla; three great-grandchildren: Dustin, Elijah and Amelia; one sister, Kathleen Hickey of Ortonville, Mich.; along with several nieces and newphews.

He was preceded in death by five children: Cindy Jo, Tina, Donnie, Kay, and Tami; two brothers: Clarence and Doug Barnes; two sisters: Flora Lahman and Marilyn Taylor.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with Full Military Honors at 7 p.m. accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at Beaver Lake Community Church from 11 a.m. until the funeral service begins at noon with Pastor Dan Williams officiating.

Internment: Spratt Cemetery

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Beaver Lake Community Church in memory of Bud.
