LEO ANTHONY TOLZDORF

Leo Anthony Tolzdorf, 93, of Alpena passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at his home.

Leo was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Alpena to the late Stanislaus and Stanislawa (Gutowski) Tolzdorf. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On Oct. 21, 1950, he married Dorothy Shorkey. She preceded him in death on Oct. 23, 2003. Leo worked at Huron Portland Cement, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish, ROMEO Club, Guys Like Us and enjoyed bicycling and gardening.

Surviving are his four children, Lee (Alberta) Tolzdorf, Ann (Robert) Schumann, Kay (Gary) Masson, Amy (Jeff) Weinke; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Harry Tolzdorf; and sister, Eleanor Fry.

Mr. Tolzdorf was preceded in death by ten siblings; infant Sophie Tolzdorf, infant Agnes Tolzdorf, Frances Mischley, Bert Tolsdorf, Julius Tolsdorf, Stella Adams, Cecilia Panknin, Edward Tolzdorf, Francis Tolzdorf, and Joseph Tolzdorf.

Visitation will take place at Bannan Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-8 p.m. with military honors accorded him at 5 p.m. by VFW Alpena Post 2496 and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at St. Anne Church of All Saints Parish from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Muszkiewicz officiating.
