ELEANOR RAMONA WERDA

Eleanor Ramona Werda, age 89, of Alpena went home to see her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

On Jan. 18, 1929, Eleanor was born to the late Frank and Viola (Dziesinski) Pokorzynski in Hamtramck, Mich. Eleanor cherished St. John the Baptist Catholic Church by being a dedicated and active member. She enjoyed spending her time cooking for others, going out to the local Big Boy Restaurant, attending Bingo, and playing cards and games with honest players.

She is survived by her six children: Gabriel Werda of Spring, Texas, Patricia (Steven) Francher of Mesa, Colo., Gary Werda of Milford, Conn., Mark (Lori) Werda of Alpena, Mich., Ray (Laura) Werda of Lachine, Mich., Annette (Douglas) Mischley of Eureka, Ill.; her 12 grandchildren, Lauren (Peter) Muzyka, Ryan and Kevin Werda, Nathan (Jenny) Jakubiak, Matthew (Diana) Jakubiak, Gretchen Werda, Chelsea (Chris) Engle, Brett (Jenny) Werda, Eric Werda, Natalie (William) Burns, Jeffrey (Brittney) Mischley, Christopher (Kacey Harper) Mischley; 15 great-grandchildren; along with nine siblings, James (Marion) Pokorzynski, Betty (Alvin) Giroux, Carol Summerfield, Lucille (Frank) Wall, John Pokorzynski, Rosemary Tovey, Violet (Harley) Pilarski, Connie (Robert) Werda, Tom (Trisha) Pokorzynski; her two sisters-in-law, Patricia and Barbara Pokorzynski; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her four brothers, Francis, Eugene, David, and Patrick Pokorzynski; one sister, Dolores Donajkowski and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Werda.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 2 p.m. until the 8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, July 2, 2018, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
