ROBERT THOMAS ADAMSKI
Robert Thomas Adamski, (a.k.a. “The Mayor of Ossineke”), 54, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2018, surrounded by his family at High Noon at Medilodge of Alpena after a short battle with cancer, just shy of his double nickels and speed limit birthday.
Robert was born April 10, 1963, to the late John and Elaine (Couture) Adamski. He was raised on a family farm on Nicholson Hill Road and spent his whole life in Ossineke. Rob graduated from Alpena High School in 1981 and attended Alpena Community College. He was a lifelong member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and was employed there for over 30 years as a custodian, groundskeeper, and official door greeter and whistler, which will be sorely missed. Rob wasn’t rich in wealth, but he was extremely rich in friends and acquaintances never missing an opportunity to announce a birthday and special occasions. He would do anything for his friends and family. Rob was the early morning ice man at Connie’s Cafe.
Rob was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #529 for 36 years helping with the tootsie roll sales and Fr. Clarence Smolinski Assembly #0485 for 35 years. He was a member of the Ossineke Lions Club and Ossineke Eagles. Rob was an avid sports fan including Ossineke County League Baseball, Area Youth League Baseball, and U of M, “Go Blue.” Rob was known for saying, “Press your luck and spend a buck” for 50-50 raffles.

Surviving by six siblings, Mary (Vince) Kollen, Hank (Kathy) Adamski, Diane Golder, Linda (Dave) Jackson, Donna (Don) Sprague, Karen (Dean) Johnson; several nieces and nephews; Aunt Vivian (Adamski) Bauer and Uncle Tom Adamski; numerous cousins; and his “Ossineke Family.”
Rob was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Larry Golder; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial visitation will take place at the Bannan Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus Color Guard standing guard from 6-8 p.m. A joint Knights of Columbus and parish prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a 3rd Degree presentation of the Mass and a 4th Degree Chalice Presentation. Memorial visitation will continue Wednesday at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 2 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. with Rev. Bob Bissot officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Rob wishes for memorials to be donated to Connie’s Angels Relay for Life of Northeast Michigan, Friends Together, Alpena Knights of Columbus Council #529, Fr. Clarence Smolinski Assembly #0485, or Hospice of Michigan.
