ROSS WILDER

Rev. Ross Wilder, 90, of Hillman passed away Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at his home.

Ross was born in Muskegon on May 23, 1927, to the late Mark and Violet (Klein) Wilder and married Frances McConnaughey on Sept. 1, 1949. Ross served in the United States Marie Corp during WWII. He served 5 different churches for the East Michigan Conference of the Free Methodist Church, including Memphis, Oxford, Davison, Westwood Heights and retired from the Owosso Free Methodist Church. Following retirement, he returned to Hillman where he continued to minister for many more years at numerous church throughout the area. Ross enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and snowmobiling.

Surviving are wife, Frances; two daughters, Gwendolyn (Earl) Hulett of Sandusky, Mich., Grace (Andy) Butterfield of Memphis, Mich.; son, Mark Wilder of Seattle, Washington; sister, Ruth Newton of Midland, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.

Ross was preceded in death by a son, Gregory; an infant granddaughter, Monterey; and an infant sister, Earleen.

A joint visitation with his son, Gregory, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, will be held on Friday, Dec. 29, at Hillman Free Methodist Church from 5-8 p.m. and continue there on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Ryan and Rev. Daniel Shinabger officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.
