KAREN M. VALLEY

Karen M. Valley, 85, of Alpena died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

Karen was born Nov. 8, 1932, in Millersburg, Mich., to the late Burdette and Edna (Wendt) Valley. He served in the U.S. Navy with shipboard time spent overseas. He married Carol Phillips on April 12, 1958. She preceded him in death in 1988. On June 2, 2003, he married the former Nellie Williams Buhl. A long-time resident of the Alpena area, Karen was in sales and a driver for a number of beverage companies, retiring from Griffin Beverage. He was a life-member of the VFW Post #2496, the Atlanta Masonic Lodge #516, the Eagles Club, the Alpena Shrine Club and was a founding member of the Buck City Hunting Club.

Surviving is his wife, Nellie; two children, John (Laura) Valley of Carson City, Nev., Ron (Sue) Valley of Herron, Mich.; two step-children, Pam (Steve) Lemorie of Lansing, Mich., Craig (Rhonda) Buhl of Sweetwater, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Dana (Andy), Ryan (Jess) Kyle (Mia), Briana, Brett (Kristen), Meagan, Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Levi, Maci; a sister-in-law, Aljean Phillips of Essexville, Mich.; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas in 1983 and four brothers, Dale, Faye, Boyd, and Duane.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena from 2 to 6 p.m. Karen has been taken for cremation and his final resting place will be Evergreen Cemetery. Online condolences may be registered at www.mcwilliamsfh.com.
