JOAN ALICE PATTERSON

Joan Alice Patterson, 81, Roscommon, died Dec. 14, 2017, at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community, Houghton Lake.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Born April 18, 1936, in New Boston, she was the daughter of Carl Frederick and Ada Emma (Knope) Russow. She had been a resident of Roscommon from 1975 to 1996, as well as a resident of Cedarville from 1996 to 2011, before moving back to Roscommon. She married Ronald M. Patterson July 11, 1959, in Wyandotte. He preceded her in death July 21, 2005. She owned and operated Patterson Kennels, Roscommon, from 1975 to 1996. She loved her boys, grandkids and family. She loved her dogs and enjoyed operating the kennel. She also enjoyed fishing. She supported her favorite sports teams including the teams her son, Rodney, played on. She and her husband, Ron, supported everything their sons did, even building an airport to support their son, Randy’s, love of airplanes.

Preceding her in death were her husband; and companion, Wayne Powers.

Surviving are her sons, Randy (Jami) Patterson of Alpena and Rodney (Michelle) Patterson of Roscommon; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Brandon, Garrett and Paige.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Michael R. Treml Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund or Mr. J.’s Buckeye Nuts Scholarship Fund both through the Roscommon County Community Foundation.

Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, handled the arrangements.
