LINDA JO KLEMENS

Linda Jo (Snyder) Klemens, 70, of Hubbard Lake passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at her home on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017.

Linda Jo Snyder was born in Harrisville on May 29, 1947, to the late Walter and Violet (Gerow) Snyder. On Sept. 2, 1967, she married Craig Klemens at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alpena.

As an active member of First United Methodist Church of Alpena, Linda especially enjoyed singing in the Chancel Choir. She also served as a wedding hostess, shut-in gift coordinator for the United Methodist Women, chair of the garden guardians and helped with many church activities, including church growth, pictorial directory, parsonage landscaping and the United Methodist dinners. Linda was an avid bird watcher and served as president and newsletter editor for the Thunder Bay Audubon Society for the past 10 years. She found the history of this area intriguing. She has served as president of the Alcona Historical Society and was the family genealogist. Huron Pines RC&D presented her with an environmental service award in 2005. Linda was president of the Hubbard Lake Lady Learners and was a member of Hubbard Lake Citizens Watch, receiving “Member of the Year Award” in 2007.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Craig; two children, Darren and wife Molly, Laura Knaggs; five grandchildren, Ellyssa, Abigail, Alexandra, Jakob, Benjamin; two sisters, Sidney and husband William Oakley, Alexis Werda; German exchange “sister,” Heide Klarmann; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Alpena on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Eugene Bacon officiating. Arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home.

Inurnment: Caledonia Township Cemetery
