IVAN L. KRAWCZAK

Ivan L. Krawczak, age 68, of Alpena passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena.

On Nov. 23, 1948, Ivan was born to the late Harry and Blanche (Pieczynski) Krawczak in Alpena, Mich. Ivan graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1966, with honors receiving the Thomas Murch Award for outstanding athletic and scholar achievement. He served his country in the U.S. Army for two years in Mannheim, Germany. Ivan graduated from Western Michigan University where he played football for two years, was an All-American, and a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He worked for the Department of Human Services as a supervisor, retiring in 2002. Ivan enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, reading western novels, and fixing things. He also enjoyed making memories by spending quality family time with his children and grandchildren, and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. Quotes by Ivan: “Have a good day! He is survived by his companion Robin Patterson; three children, Ivy Cook (Jason Bredow) of Rogers City, Mich., Luke (Jessica) Krawczak of Alpena, Mich., Laura (Aaron) Hotelling of Gaylord, Mich.; six grandchildren, Scarlett, Eli, Ian, Austin, Dillon, and Alexis; one sister, Darlene (Robert) Graczyk of Bay City, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

Ivan was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Grace Hotelling and Casey Cook, a sister, Geraldine Mortensen.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, from 2-8 p.m. with Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the Funeral Service begins at 11a.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
