GENEVA J. KOLNOWSKI

Geneva J. Kolnowski, age 93, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Tendercare Alpena.

On Dec. 14, 1923, Geneva was born to the late George and Anges (Smith) Gardner in Bolton, Mich. On April 18, 1941, she married Joseph Kolnowski at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Joseph preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. Geneva worked as a cook for both St. Bernard Catholic School and Pied Piper School, spending her time teaching students how to cook before retiring in 1982. She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, St. Bernard’s Sodality, and the Hospital Auxiliary for 33 years.

Geneva is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Stanley) Pilarski and JoAnn LeTourneau, both of Alpena, Mich.; four grandchildren, Melissa (Alan) Gapske, Scott (Jessica Prittie) Pilarski, Michelle (Steven) Panich, and Rich LeTourneau; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Brett Gapske, Alexis and Tanner Pilarski, Kevin and Darien Panich, Nathan and Olivia LeTourneau; two brothers, Gordon Gardner of Gladwin, Mich., Linwood (Rita) Gardner of Pontiac, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Kolnowski; two brothers, Gerald and Russell Gardner; three sisters, Thelma Carrington, Rose Nowaczewski, and Jean Deadman; along with her son-in-law Richard T. LeTourneau.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, from 2-8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial begins with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

Interment: Pilgrims Rest Cemetery
