LENA L. GUARESIMO
Lena Guaresimo, age 92, a resident of Village Manor Retirement Home in Hartland Mich., passed away suddenly at SJMH Oakland on Sept. 11, 2017. She suffered a massive stroke Sept. 8 2017. She was born to Gotfried and Sophia Wentland in Wilson Twp, Alpena County Dec. 11, 1924. She received her teaching certificate at County Normal and taught in the Alpena Public School system until her retirement. She traveled to many exotic places and loved volunteering in her community.
She initally married Bruce Collins and later married Anthony Guaresimo of Gross Pointe, Mich. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, her brother William, and sister Ida (Bishop). She is survived by her niece Barbra (David) Peterson of St. Johns, Mich.; nephews Robert (Pamela) Bishop of Bath, Mich., Ronald (Cheryl) of Linden, Mich., Craig (Tina) Wintland of Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Phillip (Elaine) Wintland of Midland, Mich. Her niece, Charlene Brandenburg (Bishop) preceded her in death.
Memorial service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 12701 Highland Rd, Hartland, Mich., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with service at 11 a.m. Reverend Denise Russell will officiate. Luncheon will follow at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Salem Memorial Church at Chester and Moross, Detroit, Mich.
