ALLEN STEVENS

Al was born July 6, 1939, in Alpena to Levi and Edith (Ladkau) Stevens. He married the love of his life Thelma Mercer at Trinity Episcopal Church on Nov. 5, 1960. Al was a hard worker from an early age as he earned his first paycheck at the age of 13. He worked for the Abitibi paper mill for 21 years before working for Panel Processing for 23 years and retired as the General Manager. A word used to describe Al from others was honorable, he always had others including his employees interest in mind. He liked to keep things simple with no frills unless of course you were one of his grandchildren whom he truly loved and considered such a blessing. Al is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Thelma Stevens; four children, Hans (Christine) Stevens, Edith (George) Blair, William (Andrea) Stevens, Thora (Michael) Hanna; and 10 exceptional grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Trinity Episcopal Church from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11a.m. with The Very Rev. William J. McClure Jr. Officiating.
