Alpena man arrested for domestic violence offense

ALPENA — A 45-year-old Alpena man was arraigned Tuesday in the 88th District Court in Alpena County on one count domestic violence third offense.

On Sunday, a trooper from the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post was dispatched to a residence on French Road in Alpena Township for a report of an “out of control” man.

Upon arrival the alleged victim and a witness at the scene claimed the Alpena man had had an argument with the victim, grabbed her by the throat, and then threw her to the ground. The man left the scene driving a GMC Sierra before the trooper arrived.

Another trooper responding to the scene heard the radio traffic regarding the suspect and saw the pickup northbound. As the trooper turned around to initiate a stop, the vehicle turned into a driveway and the driver fled. The trooper pulled into the residence and spoke with the homeowners. They did not recognize the vehicle and did not know who was driving.

An Alpena County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw the Alpena man walking on Guyotte Road and placed him under arrest. The deputy transported him to the troopers for an interview and then lodged him in the Alpena County Jail.

The man’s next hearing in court is June 22.
