A 50-year-old Hubbard Lake man was arraigned in the 88th District Court in Alpena this week on one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and one count of domestic violence.

On Tuesday in Alpena Township, troopers from the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post were called to a domestic violence complaint at a residence. When they arrived they spoke with a witness and the alleged victim who had visible injuries on their face and neck. The alleged victim and witness alleged the suspect had a verbal argument with the victim and then began hitting and choking them.

The troopers then observed a man calling out to them from the woods just north of the residence. The man was identified as the suspect and was interviewed and placed under arrest.

His next scheduled court appearance is on June 12.
