Communities can get help preparing for high water
Local projects addressing flooding, coastline erosion, and stormwater management could get a boost from a one-time grant program from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy.
Government units and public or nonprofit organizations can apply for a piece of a $14 million pot earmarked to minimize damage from severe weather events.
The state hopes the grants will help communities prepare for the next high water cycle, it said in a news release.
