Report: Alpena school among top in state, country

ALPENA ― Alpena High School ranks among the top 25% of high schools in Michigan and the top 28% in the country, the U.S.News and World Report said in a report released today.

The annual report ranks schools based on performance on state-required tests, graduation rate, and how well schools prepare students for college.

The report ranked Alpena High School 161st of 660 high schools in the state and 4,900th of 17,843 schools nationally.

U.S News and World Report has named Alpena High School to its list of top-ranking schools several times in the past, according to Lee Fitzpatrick, director of communications for Alpena Public Schools.
