Security cameras captured Alpena woman Stingray Sheyann-Jean Thompson, 28, stealing another woman’s purse at a local retailer, police reported on Thursday.

Store cameras showed Thompson snatching the purse at the Alpena Walmart store on Sept. 21 and taking it into the store restroom, shortly thereafter attempting to use several of her victim’s credit cards to pay for items, according to police.

Thompson allegedly tried several cards before store machines accepted one. Employees later found the stolen purse in a restroom garbage can, minus cash the victim said had been inside, police said.

Police arrested Thompson on Dec. 15 during a traffic stop after courts issued a warrant for her arrest on Nov. 22. Thompson was charged with larceny and stealing a financial device.
