Local government roundup: Alpena Municpal Council elects Cindy Johnson as mayor pro tem

At its meeting on Jan.4, the Alpena Municipal Council…

∫ Voted 4-0 to receive and file the fiscal year 2021 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, as presented by Straley Lamp & Kraenzlein, P.C.

∫ Voted 4-0 to adopt ordinance 21-468 which amends the City of Alpena Zoning Ordinance Article 10.

∫ Voted 4-0 to elect Cindy Johnson as mayor pro tem.

∫ Voted to authorize two tennis courts at McRae Park to be converted into six pickleball courts. The courts will continue to be playable for tennis. The city will continue $10,000 toward the project.

ALPENA TOWNSHIP

At its Jan.11 meeting the Alpena Township Board of Trustees ….

∫ The board was given proposals for services to conduct the administrative functions of the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and recommended the Mac Consulting Service LLC proposal. The board voted to accept the quote from Mac Consulting Services LLC to conduct the administrative function for the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.

∫ Accepted the recommendation from the Alpena Township Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board to confirm the appointment of Mac McCelland as the Executive Director for the Alpena Township Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.

∫ Voted to reinstate the cadet/trainee program for the fire department.
