ALPENA ― A man who admitted to having sex with a child numerous times over several years will spend 12 to 50 years in prison.
Tony Parris, 33, pleaded guilty last month to sexual assault of a minor as part of a plea agreement stating Alpena County Prosecutor Cynthia Muszynski would recommend no more than 12 years’ incarceration.
Parris’s first-degree sexual assault charges could have led to a minimum 25-year sentence.
Muszynski reached the plea agreement in consultation with the survivor in the case, she told the court.

Judge Ed Black, adhering to the sentencing agreement at a Monday sentencing hearing, said efforts by Parris to hide his actions from his family made the judge the angriest he’d been on the bench.
Parris, a former Wilson Township firefighter dismissed from the position at the time of his arrest, could remain in prison up to 50 years. He will register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
