Consumers Energy and community leaders Friday celebrated the arrival of electric vehicle chargers in Rogers City and Harrisville, an important Sunrise Side link in Michigan’s fast-growing EV charging network.

Consumers Energy officials celebrated the new chargers at the Rogers City Farmers Market Friday morning and with a ribbon-cutting of chargers overlooking Harrisville’s harbor in the afternoon.

“Rogers City is grateful to Consumers Energy for the installation of extremely fast EV charging stations in the heart of our downtown,” Rogers City Mayor Scott McLennan said. “The new fast chargers make it possible for travelers to stop off and quickly charge their vehicles while also visiting our beautiful downtown.”

“Harrisville is moving into a whole new realm of tourism and commerce. Having the convenience of EV charging stations at one of the most beautiful locations within our city will help bring new visitors to our small town. New visitors will facilitate an increase in shopping and eating at our local businesses and hopefully reinvigorate the Sunrise Side,” Jacquelyn Schwanz, Harrisville’s alderwoman in charge of green initiatives, said. “We are looking forward to further change and development in the realm of clean energy, making our piece of Michigan even greener.”
