The Alpena Community College cross country team opened its 2021 season Saturday at the Ray Helsing Ferris Invite.

John Siegert (Ludington) led the Lumberjacks with a strong race. Siegert was followed by Duncan Ross (Rogers City), Connor Bagnell (Memphis), Teddy Peters (Onaway), Musa Kabbah (Liberia, Africa), Runi Demirkol (Istanbul Turkey) and Nat Macean (Petit-Goave, Haiti).

“We have always used this first meet as a gauge and set our season goals,” ACC coach Mark Jacobs said. “We ran well today for an early meet. After today, our focus is to continue to improve, get our top five guys closer together and heal a few of our nagging injuries. These guys work hard and this will be a very good season for us.”

The Lumberjacks next travel to Grayling on Sept. 24 to take part in the Kirtland Firebird Invitational.
