Police need the public’s help finding the driver who hit and killed a dog on Sunday on F-30 near Cole Road in Curtis Township, according to a news release.

Bystanders helped deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office treat the injured dog, a one-year-old, white female pit bull with black around the eyes. A veterinarian at the Alcona Animal Clinic in Lincoln was unable to save the dog because of severe internal and limb injuries, according to police.

Police hope to speak with the driver involved with the crash to complete a police report, according to Alcona County Sheriff Scott Stephenson. They also ask the public’s help in locating the dog’s owner. Information can be reported to the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office at 989-724-6271.
