POLICE BLOTTER: Montmorency County deputies respond to complaints of fights, crashes, fraud

July 26

9:56 a.m.: After a 911 hang-up came into the center a Deputy responded to the address where the call came in from; upon arrival the Deputy spoke with construction workers who stated that a telephone line was hit and the phones were not working in the area.

Dispatch received several welfare checks on residents in the area this evening due to the phone lines being down and the AT&T tower having issues; all subjects that were checked on were found to be fine. They were unable to reach out to family due to the issue.

9:46 p.m.: Deputies responded to a commercial alarm in Albert Township; building was found to be secure. Officers cleared without incident.

11:20 p.m.: Dispatch received a call from a Briley Township resident regarding a tree that was down and blocking traffic on Gamble Road. The road commission was notified.

11:39 p.m.: An officer responded to Clear Lake State campground for a noise complaint; the subjects were asked to keep it down for the evening. Deputy cleared without incident.

July 27

9:42 a.m.: A welfare check was requested for an elderly female on Elk Dr in Briley Township. An officer responded and contacted the subject, everything was found to be ok.

1:38 p.m.: An officer responded to a local credit union in Albert Township for a subject trying to pass a fraudulent check. The investigation is ongoing.

9:00 p.m.: A Deputy responded to an animal complaint in Briley Township; the animals were returned to their home and the officer cleared without incident.

July 29

3:18 a.m.: Deputies responded to a dispute on Montmorency St in Albert Township. The subjects were separated.

9:49 p.m.: Deputies were called to a residence on Canada Creek Ranch for a verbal argument. A female was removed from the property and given a verbal warning not to return to the residence.

July 30

9:05 a.m.: A commercial burglar alarm at a business in Briley Township resulted in deputies responding to the scene, officers found the delivery truck had set off the alarm; they cleared without incident.

9:40 a.m.: A female resident of Rust Township was picked up in the courthouse on her Montmorency County warrant, she was taken to the jail, printed and bonded out.

10:50 a.m.: A domestic assault was reported via 911 to the dispatch center; Deputies responded to the scene and took the report; they later cleared the scene without incident.

4:56 p.m.: A two vehicle crash in Hillman Township was reported. MCSO Deputies, along with Hillman Fire and EMS all responded to the scene. No one was transported to the hospital.

July 31

7:54 p.m.: A Deputy responded to a call about a stray dog in Albert Township; the dog was taken to the Elk County Animal Shelter.

9:39 p.m.: A call came into the center about a vehicle deer accident on M-32 in Briley Township, Deputy responded to take report. Driver was uninjured.

10:05 p.m.: Deputies and DNR responded to a dispute in Albert Township; the male subject was arrested for domestic assault and is being lodged in Alpena County Jail.

Aug. 1

12:25 p.m.: A two vehicle crash was reported in Albert Township. Albert Township Fire and EMS along with MCSO deputy responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.

8:07 p.m.: Deputies picked up an Albert Township resident on a warrant; subject was lodged at Alpena Jail.
