Local school board roundup: The Alpena Public Schools Board of Education accepts three drop down projector screens from donors

∫ The Alpena Public Schools Board of Education in May spent $55,000 on print and digital math resources for students in second through fifth grades. The purchase was made using Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds.

The board also recognized its retirees in a resolution of appreciation, where its retiring employees had amassed a combined 837 years of service to the district.

The board accepted three electric drop down projector screens from Fred and Leanne Bloom, who donated them to the Thunder Bay Junior High School. The donation was valued at $5,000.

The board will meet at 9 a.m. today to consider the 2021 tax levy rate and to consider change orders to its bond work. ∫ The Hillman Community Schools Board of Education unanimously agreed to contract its business services through the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District. The district’s business manager, Jill Olsen, is retiring and the district will continue its services through the educational service district.

∫ The Hillman Community Schools Board of Education will meet at 5 p.m. Monday in the high school media center, where they will approve staff resignations and retirements and conduct other business.

∫ Rogers City Area Schools Board of Education will hold a public hearing for its 2021-22 fiscal year budget at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Rogers City High School meeting room, 1033 West Huron Ave. The board’s regular monthly meeting will begin directly following the public hearing, where the board will consider adopting the 2022 budget and consider purchasing touchless bathroom fixtures.

∫ The Alpena Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in room 106 of the Newport Center, where they will consider approving the 2022 budget, College President Don MacMaster’s contract, and the 2022 administrative salary schedule.
