Local government roundup: Three new Sheriff’s Office employees introduced to Presque Isle County commissioners

∫ At its recent meeting the Alpena Municipal Council passed a resolution authorizing the submission of a Community Development Block grant application to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for infrastructure and street improvements on and within Second Avenue from the Thunder Bay River to Hueber Street within the City.

A public hearing was conducted for the FY22 budget. A report was given by Finance Director, Anna Soik. There were no public comments, nor were there written comments received by the Clerk. The Council had discussion and no further action was taken.

Approved Resolution 2021-11, designating a social district containing a commons area in the downtown.

∫ At the Presque Isle County Commissioners meeting Sheriff Joseph Brewbaker introduced three of the five new employee’s at the sheriff department. David Malton, corrections officer Megan Kuznicki, 911 Dispatcher Demi Jo Flewelling. Not present was 911 Dispatcher Renee Clarke and corrections officer Cory Sweeso.

Voted to appoint Darrin Darga as the Jury Board Secretary effective May 29, 2021. Salary will remain at $3,800 per year.

Accepted the letter of resignation from Maintenance Supervisor Scott Ash. His last day of employment will be June 28.
