Possible virus exposure at Wednesday soccer game, Health Department says
ALPENA — Attendees at Wednesday’s soccer game in the Alpena High School stadium grandstands may have been exposed to the coronavirus and should monitor for symptoms, local public health officials said today.
District Health Department No. 4 officials were notified by another health department of the possible exposure at the game that happened from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Alpena, according to a Health Department press release.
Those who develop symptoms in the next two weeks should contact their doctor and consider getting tested for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. If individuals do not develop symptoms within 14 days, nothing needs done, health officials said.
No new cases of coronavirus infection or deaths were reported among residents of Alpena, Alcona, Montmorency, or Presque Isle counties today. One more Alcona County resident recovered from the disease, bringing to 24 the total number of Alcona County residents infected and recovered since mid-March.
To date, 183 Northeast Michiganders have been infected, 155 of whom have recovered and 17 of whom have died.
Four Northeast Michiganders were reported infected this week, including one Presque Isle County resident, one Montmorency County resident, and two Alcona County residents.
No new deaths were reported this week.
