A Saginaw-area couple and their grandchildren were rescued when their boat became stranded near Harrisville on July 31.

The motors of the 21-foot boat died, leaving the occupants to drift from a mile offshore until they beached just north of the harbor.

Deputies from the Alcona County Sheriff’s Office tossed a line from a patrol boat and were able to free the stuck vessel, which was towed to the harbor. None of the boat’s occupants were hurt.
