Crews from Alpena and Alpena Township battle a large fire at a multiple-unit housing structure at the corner of Washington Avenue and Lewis Street early Sunday morning. Alpena Fire Chief Bill Forbush said the occupants were able to get out safely, but one cat died in the blaze. The street was closed while the fire was addressed and the Alpena Police Department assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
