Former Alpena Post commanders disciplined

One former commander of the Michigan State Police-Alpena Post has been reassigned and another is no longer employed by Michigan State Police following an investigation into alleged policy violations, according to MSP Public Affairs Section Manager Shanon Banner.

Capt. Michael Caldwell, Michigan State Police-7th District commander in Gaylord, and Inspector Mike Hahn, that post’s assistant commander, were placed on paid leave March 9 after an internal investigation revealed they violated department policy related to the promotion and selection process.

Details of the investigation were not released, but Banner confirmed Monday that it was followed by administrative action, after which Hahn is no longer an MSP employee and Caldwell has been reassigned.

Both Caldwell and Hahn served as commanders of the Alpena post before moving to positions in the 7th district.
