$400K available for region’s small businesses

Target Alpena and the Otsego County Economic Alliance have each received $200,000 to distribute as grants to small businesses impacted by the coronavirus in Northeast Michigan.

The funding can be used as working capital to support payroll expenses, rent, mortgage payments, utility expenses, or similar expenses that occur in the ordinary course of business.

The application and eligibility criteria is available online at alpenachamber.com. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. April 3.

Target Alpena will administer the funding to small businesses in Alpena, Alcona, Presque Isle, Cheboygan, and Iosco counties. The Otsego County Economic Alliance will administer the funding to businesses in Montmorency, Ogema, Oscoda, Otsego, Crawford, and Roscommon counties.

The grant funding is made available through the Michigan Small Business Relief Program, which will provide up to $20 million in grants and loans to provide economic assistance to impacted businesses.
