Good Mid-Day Alpena event Thursday

The first Good Mid-Day Alpena event happens at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the auditorium at Alpena High School, 3303 S. 3rd Ave.

The event costs $10 per person and includes lunch.

The theme is Solutions to Common Struggles of Business Professionals, including info about time management, health, public speaking, and more.

Group seeks Family Physician of the Year nominees

The Michigan Academy of Family Physicians is seeking nominations for its Family Physician of the Year Award, presented to doctors who go above and beyond to deliver outstanding care to patients.

Nominations are due by March 1 and the winner will be honored at the group’s annual conference Aug. 6 to 9 in Detroit.

The group represents more than 4,200 family physicians, residents, and medical students in the state.

State Land Bank streamlines application

It is now easier to apply to purchase State Land Bank property through a more streamlined application, the state announced in a news release.

“The streamlined application is great news for anyone interested in purchasing Land Bank property,” State Land Bank Interim Director Jeff Huntington said in a statement. “Increasing efficiencies and improving services for the people of Michigan is an ongoing goal of our agency, and I’m happy we are able to make this process easier for our customers.”

The new application can be found on the Available Properties panel on the homepage of the Land Bank website.

The Land Bank possesses vacant, abandoned, foreclosed, blighted, or otherwise unproductive property.
