News seeks storytellers

Do you have a story to tell about tracking down information about your ancestors? Are you willing to share that story in front of a live audience? If so, The News wants to hear from you.

The newspaper has partnered with the Alpena County Library and the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan to offer a live storytelling event next year as part of the foundation’s efforts to encourage residents to participate in the 2020 census.

The News is looking for Northeast Michigan residents who have used census records to track down their genealogy and are willing to share those stories in front of an audience. The News will offer support with writing a narrative and public speaking techniques.

Call 989-354-3111, ext. 317 or email jhinkley@thealpenanews.com if you’re willing to share your story.
