News Photo by Julie Goldberg

From left to right, Meaghan Gauthier, director of K-12 curriculum for Alpena Public Schools, Carly Lixey, school success worker at Sanborn Elementary School, and LeAnn Schultz, director of marketing for the Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union, show a $150 check that APS received from AAACU Friday for the district’s Strive for 5 program. The program encourages Alpena students and families to establish good routines of coming to school daily and on time, Lixey said. Lixey said the district strives for attendance to be at 90% or better around the district.
