Alpena K9 team helps find body of missing man
SOUTHFIELD — The body of an 88-year-old Southfield man who had been missing for nearly a month was found with the help of the Alpena County Search and Rescue and multiple local K9 units, according to a news release from the Alpena County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
The man, who suffered from dementia, left his Southfield home on Sept. 7 and was not seen again.
Alpena County Search and Rescue, as well as K9 Team Kaiser, K9One and K9 Team Serenade, traveled to Southfield to participate in a one-day search effort Sunday.
An animal with the Alpena search team picked up the scent on a river shoreline around 1 p.m.
The Southfield Fire Department then recovered the body.
