Accused drug dealer nabbed with kids at home

Seven children were found in the Alpena home of a drug dealer last month when police arrested a man after a four-month investigation.

Carl Standen, 40, was taken into custody Sept. 18 after undercover narcotics officers made multiple purchases from his home in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue in Alpena.

At the time of Standen’s arrest, seven children were found, including an eight-month-old infant.

The children were attended to by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

A 15-year-old present at the home fled the scene on foot. She was stopped by police after entering an unlocked home and lodged in a juvenile detention facility.

Standen was charged with delivery of narcotics including methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He has been released on bond.
