Firefighters from the Alpena Township South Side station check on a driver involved in a two-car crash Wednesday afternoon. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles involved in the crash, and both drivers were transported to MidMichigan Medical Center-Alpena to be checked for injury after the collision at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Bagley Street, near the main entrance to Alpena High School. Hearing a loud crash that brought them out onto their front lawns, neighbors said the intersection is a frequent site of traffic incidents and near-misses.
