88 positions filled in region

The Michigan Works! Northeast Michigan Consortium filled 88 positions in August, for an economic wage impact of $2.8 million, the agency said in its monthly newsletter.

In addition:

∫ 1,493 people visited the agency

∫ the agency worked with 110 new employers

∫ the agency posted 225 job openings and helped employers market 194 job postings employers

Cardiologist joins

McLaren

Northern Mich.

Dr. David Dobies, an interventional cardiologist, has joined McLaren Northern Michigan’s Heart & Vascular Specialists, the hospital said in a news release.

Dobies received his medical degree from Michigan State University, completed internal medicine internship at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis and his residency at Indiana University, the release said. His cardiology fellowships were done at William Beaumont Hospital and Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce’s last Good Mid-Day Alpena event of 2019 happens from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at Art in the Loft, 109 N. 2nd Ave., the chamber has announced.
