Alcona schools ID person behind threat

LINCOLN — The person responsible for a bomb threat Monday at Alcona Community Schools has been identified.

Superintendent Dan O’Connor said in a press release Friday that the district was able to identify the person responsible for a threat that put the district into a soft lockdown. The district did not name the individual.

The written threat was found in a classroom in Alcona Middle/High School and the school initiated the soft lockdown, meaning students could move throughout the school but outside doors were secured and visitors were not allowed.

Students were dismissed just after 2 p.m. Monday after an initial investigation was conducted.

The threat was deemed not credible.

The investigation continued Tuesday as building administrators, staff, and law enforcement conducted interviews and follow-ups on details connected to the threat.

The alleged suspect is now subject to further investigation by the district Board of Education, O’Connor said in the release.

“Thank you to the students, families, and community for their trust as we worked to address this serious situation in as timely of a manner as possible,” O’Connor said.

It wasn’t immediately clear Friday if criminal charges are being sought against the person who made the threat.
