POSEN –Posen has its 2019 queen and it is Brooke Rocco.

Rocco was named Miss Posen after competing in the 2019 pageant Friday night at Posen High School. She was scored the highest by a panel of judges on her talent, coordination and fitness, poise and appearance and personality.

After receiving her sash and crown from Miss Posen 2018 Faith Romel, Rocco did a lap around the runway waving to the crowd, overcome with emotion and excitement.

Rocco described the final few moments before her name was announced as the new queen.

“Before they said my name I was thinking that no matter who won I was going to start crying and be so happy for that person,” she said. “Then when I realized it was me I went through the roof. It is so exciting and I’m so proud of all the girls on this stage. This court is so close it’s insane and we’re looking forward to representing Posen.”

Before being crowned queen, girls from last year’s court presented awards to the other competitors. Paige Thompson won Miss Congeniality and tied for poise and appearance with Alexis May. Hailey Styma won the talent portion of the event with a dance routine to a mix of the classic tune New York, New York. Rocco won the coordination category.

First runner-up was Styma and second runner-up was May.

The other members of the queens court are Madison Menzel and Thompson. Judges for the contest were Sandy Dion, of Long Lake, Lisa Schultz of Alpena and Dr. Steven Kandow of Fort Wayne, Ind.
