More than 40 people participated in a Community Conversations event Tuesday at the APlex to discuss how various agencies can better engage individuals with disabilities in our community and civic opportunities. The event was spearheaded by the Alpena-Montmorency-Alcona Educational Service District and Alpena Public Schools, with support from the Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants included educational professionals, community agencies, parents, students, and business leaders attended and brainstormed ways to better engage this group of individuals within our community. Ideas from the event will be reviewed at a future AMA ESD Transition Council meeting to determine the next steps.
