POSEN — The seniors at Posen High school went from being students to being alumni after the class of 2018 graduated Friday. Most of the graduates have been classmates since preschool and have created bonds that can’t be broken and experiences that won’t be forgotten.

This year there were 21 graduates and it was a solid class academically, as 12 were honor students and nine of those members of National Honor Society.

Superintendent Michelle Wesner praised the graduates for what they accomplished while in high school and the support family and friends offered during their journey. She said there was little doubt the seniors would each make a mark on the world in their own way.

“Maybe you will go beyond any of the dreams you have,” Wesner said. “Just follow your heart in everything you do and please know we have support here for you any time you need it. Your Posen community will always have your back. Never question your strength, resolve and never forget where you came from. Congratulations Class of 2018.”

There were a pair valedictorians this year. Camille LaTulip and Lydia Werth each spoke of their time in school and saluted their classmates and the staff that were there for them growing up.

LaTulip talked about the pitfalls that often comes with success. She said when people accomplish things it often can cause resent and jealousy among others. She urged her classmates to brush that aside and strive for greatness and many successes.

“I challenge you Class of 2018 to be the best you that you can be and pull your own expectations out of the water, to climb higher than the eyes can see and to thrive at your hopes and expectations all while being able to look at yourself in the mirror,” she said.

Werth talked about how everyone in the class has changed since their freshmen year and how it was a time of self discovery.

“High school is four years of growing up,” Werth said. “They are part of the years we decide who or what you want to be and what type of person you are. I think we all turned out pretty good.”
