Hospice of Michigan Alpena office receives recognition

Hospice of Michigan has been recognized for providing exemplary care to patients and families across northern and northwest Michigan through the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey. Quality care delivered by HOM teams in Alpena and Gaylord earned Hospice Honors Elite status, while Hospice of Michigan teams serving Big Rapids, Cadillac, Ludington and Traverse City earned Hospice Honors designation.

Hospice Honors are based on results of the prestigious CAHPS survey, which polls patients and families. Issued across a variety of health care disciplines, the CAHPS survey measures many aspects of consumer satisfaction over a six month period, including communication skills of providers and ease of access to health care services. The survey is administered by Deyta Analytics, presenters of the award.

All Hospice of Michigan families receive the evaluation highlighting 24 quality indicator measures following a loved one’s passing. The Alpena and Gaylord teams eclipsed the national average on all 24 questions to earn Elite status, while the northwest Michigan staff received Hospice Honors for scoring above the national average on more than 20 of the survey’s questions.

“These Hospice Honors recognitions are a result of a million small things done with consistent and genuine care for the wellbeing of Hospice of Michigan patients and families,” said HOM President and CEO Bob Cahill, “We are honored to be highly-regarded by the patients and families we serve, and I’m personally honored to be a part of such a wonderful collection of hardworking and compassionate people.”
