MSP alerts public of traffic ticket scam
On Monday, Michigan State Police Seventh District Public Information Officer Spl/Lt. Ashley Miller notified the public about a scam text message that people across the state received.
The scam message reads, “Michigan State Department of Vehicles(DMV) Final Notice: Enforcement Penalties Begin on June 11. Our records show that as of today you still have an outstanding traffic ticket. In accordance with Michigan State Administrative Code 15C-16.003, if you do not complete payment by June 10, 2025, we will take the following actions:
The actions listed include reporting the violation to the DMV database, suspending vehicle registration, suspending driver’s privileges, and a warning that you may be prosecuted.”
The text then includes a link to a website to “Pay Now”.
